Nice, capital of the French Riviera, skirts the pebbly shores of the Baie des Anges. With vibrant markets and diverse restaurants, it’s also renowned for its food.
Nice has a cosmpolitan Riviera vibe, and you’ll enjoy exploring its fashionable boutiques and restaurants and sunning yourself on its popular beaches. (Just don’t expect soft sand—these beaches have pebbles.) Walk up to Castle Hill for a beautiful view of the city, the Bay of Angels and of course, the bright blue water that gave the Cote d’Azur its name.
Castle Hill; This is the best place to get the most amazing views of Nice. Not a strenuous walk up,but if you do not want to walk to the top, you can always get the free lift from the bottom of the hill. The lift is at the Promendae des Anglais end. The waterfall, although not well sign-posted, can be heard from well away, and is worth a visit from top or bottom, both accessible. Shops and seats all make a worthwhile visit. There is a beautiful park and play area for small children if you continue past the water fall. Great for a picnic! There is also a cafe’ at the top.
Promenade; One of the best walks along the Mediterranean you will find. Beautiful Belle Epoque buildings on one side, magnificent water views on the other.
When in Nice take a helicopter ride, it takes about an hour and you fly over the principality of Monaco.
